Agriculture in the Classroom

During Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month (CALM) many students go on a journey behind the scenes to meet some of the people who grow and process their food.

Land and Sky Grains has joined this initiative and has annual visits to different classrooms in the area to talk about agriculture. This year’s topic was careers and their connections to Agriculture.

Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre

The Conservation Data Centre (SKCDC) exists to serve Saskatchewan by gathering, interpreting, and distributing standardized information on the ecological status of provincial wild species and communities. Land and Sky partnered with the SKCDC as part of the Prairie Landscape Inventory project, collecting ground-truthing data in order to make a GIS model of different types of landcover across Saskatchewan. These photos were taken on segments of native prairie pasture and tame grassland within Land and Sky’s care. One plant of particular interest to the SKCDC was the Upland White Goldenrod, as it is a rare plant in Saskatchewan and only grows in natural prairie on the southeast side of the province.“

“It’s a testament to great land management that they are still there!” – Sarah Vinge-Mazer, ENV
